ā€‹How To Get Started With The SWMHEā€‹

Welcome to the California Statewide Medical and Health Exercise (SWMHE) program. The SWMHE is sponsored by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA). This program is designed to help healthcare, public health agencies, and their partners exercise their response to unusual health events that may challenge their facilities, personnel, and impact the communities they serve.

Follow these steps:

  1. Access the Sample Timeline for Exercise Planners below and begin planning your year.
  2. Convene your Exercise Planning Team or Workgroup.
  3. Download the SWMHE exercise templates from this website.
  4. Start with the objectives. Your objectives should be based on the capabilities you need to test within your organization.
  5. Customize the objectives and the other templates for your needs with your Exercise Planning Team.
  6. Review the SWMHE website for more helpful planning tips, tools, and resources.
  7. Design and implement an exercise (tabletop, functional or full-scale) based on your needs and capabilities.

Provide feedback! The more feedback you provide on the program, the more we can improve the program next year. CA State Exercise Inbox
