Drowning Prevention: Toddler Pool and Spa Safety

Pursuant to the Swimming Pool Safety Act of 2006 (California Health and Safety Code § 115920-115929), this page provides information on pool and spa safety.  If you are planning to build or remodel a pool, check with your city or county building inspection office for permit requirements. Toddler drownings can be prevented with adult supervision and the use of pool ā€œsafety barriers.ā€  The California Department of Public Health is providing this Safety Guide (PDF) as an educational brochure.
