Drowning Prevention: Toddler Pool and Spa Safety

Pursuant to the Swimming Pool Safety Act of 2006 (California Health and Safety Code § 115920-115929), this page provides information on pool and spa safety.  If you are planning to build or remodel a pool, check with your city or county building inspection office for permit requirements. Toddler drownings can be prevented with adult supervision and the use of pool “safety barriers.”  The California Department of Public Health is providing this Safety Guide (PDF) as an educational brochure.
