Fiscal Accounting & Budgeting
Accounting classifications perform professional accounting duties, such as reviewing and analyzing all types of accounts and records of financial transactions. They also maintain accounting records and handle accounts receivables and accounts owed for the Department.
Budget classifications work to ensure the Department's expenditure stays within the funds allotted by the annual Governor's Budget. Duties in the budget office can include reviewing, analyzing, evaluating and processing budget change proposals. The roles also make recommendations on budget matters to higher level department management including reconciling appropriation by source of funding, reviewing purchase estimates, printing requisitions, personnel transactions documents and contracts. By ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations, accounting and budget classifications help safeguard the department's resources and strengthen its ability to deliver vital public health services to the state of California.
