Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update:

The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch (CLPPB) is taking precautions to ensure the safety of its staff, community counterparts, and the public during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. CLPPB continues to work closely with local health jurisdictions across the state to serve the public and children of California and ensure that cases of childhood lead poisoning are responded to in a timely and appropriate manner. For assistance, please continue to contact your local Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, however, note that if local program staff are assisting with COVID-19 work, non-urgent inquiries may receive a delayed response. If your local program is unavailable, or if your county does not have a local program, contact CLPPB directly at 510-620-5600 or by email at PDSS@cdph.ca.gov.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is responding to the spread of COVID-19 and is working with Federal, State, and local agencies, as well as health facilities and health care providers, to prepare and protect Californians from COVID-19. For more information about COVID-19, visit the CDC's website or CDPH's COVID-19 Updates webpage. CLPPB has also developed a resource page for staying lead-safe during COVID-19.

California has enacted landmark legislation to prevent childhood lead poisoning. This legislation has established the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch (CLPPB), a children's environmental health program offering multi-layered solutions to this complex problem.
