× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. This information is subject to change, so please monitor the California WIC website for updates.

​​Limited Podiatric Radiography Permit

The California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch (CDPH-RHB) is pleased to announce that as of July 1, 2023, the CDPH-RHB will be authorized to issue a Limited Podiatric Radiography permit to applicants if they have satisfied the eligibility requirements listed below. Eligible applicants would be required to complete CDPH-RHB approved coursework that is provided by a licensed doctor of podiatric medicine, who holds a current and valid radiography supervisor and operator permit issued by CDPH-RHB.  

On September 27, 2022, Assembly Bill (AB) 1704 was approved by the Governor and resulted in the amendment of the Radiologic Technology Act, Health and Safety Code §114871(a). This bill requires the CDPH-RHB to issue a limited permit in podiatric radiography, authorizing radiography of only the foot, ankle, tibia, and fibula.

​Eligibility:

To receive a Limited Podiatric Radiography Permit, applicants must:

  • Provide a copy of a graduation diploma or certificate from a CDPH-RHB approved Limited Podiatric Radiography Educational Program
  • Submit a completed X-ray Technician Podiatric Radiography Permit Application, form CDPH 9128 that will be posted soon, with the non-refundable application fee of $112.00
  • Pass examinations in radiation protection and safety, and podiatric radiologic technology
