  • Vaccines help stop the spread of illnesses, keep people from ending up in the hospital and save their lives.
  • Changes to federal guidance has caused confusion on who should get vaccines and when.
  • In response, California joined the West Coast Health Alliance to ensure our public health advice is science and fact based.
  • We're committed to ensuring Californians have access to safe, effective vaccines.

The Immunization Branch helps protect Californians against vaccine-preventable diseases by:

  • Helping them know which vaccines are needed, where to get vaccinated and how to access their immunization records
  • Monitoring, investigating and controlling diseases and outbreaks
  • Improving access to vaccines
  • Supporting school and childcare immunization requirements
