Background

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is currently developing regulations relating to staffing requirements in Acute Psychiatric Hospitals (APHs). We are committed to protecting the health and safety of patients and are actively collaborating with stakeholders and the public to establish standards. Due to the high level of interest in this regulation package, CDPH has created this webpage to make information easily accessible for all interested parties.

Announcements

Center for Health Care Quality (CHCQ) is holding a stakeholder meeting on June 11, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm to discuss APH nurse-to-patient staffing ratio regulations. For meeting details, please see AFL 25-18.
