Emergency Management Coordination

The Environmental Health Support Section’s Emergency Preparedness Program supports environmental public health in all phases of the emergency management cycle through the following activities:

Planning and Preparedness

Contributes to State-wide planning efforts, including the Multiyear Integrated Preparedness Plan and the CalOES State Emergency Plan.
Fosters relationships with Medical Health Operational Area Coordinators (MHOAC) and Regional Disaster Medical Health Coordinators And Specialists (RDMHC & RDMHS)
Maintains state-level situational awareness of environmental public health and protection efforts by participating in the CalEPA Emergency Response Management Committee (ERMaC)
Maintain close partnerships and information sharing through participation in partner committees and workgroups, e.g. Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPC), the California Conference of Directors of Environmental Health (CCDEH), National Environmental Health Association (NEHA), and California Environmental Health Association (CEHA).

Response

Through close coordination and collaboration with other key Centers within CDPH, the EP Team delivers critical environmental public health expertise to CDPH’s Center for Preparedness and Response (CPR) Medical and Health Coordination Center, ensuring informed decision-making and effective response during emergency activations.
