× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. About Us

The mission of the Laboratory Field Services (LFS) branch is to safeguard the health of the people of California by ensuring accurate and reliable clinical ​and public health laboratory testing, safe and reliable sources of human tissue and blood for transplantation and transfusion, and safe and effective biologics produced from human tissue and blood. LFS does this through licensure, inspection, proficiency testing, and oversight of clinical and public health laboratories, tissue banks, biologics facilities, blood banks, and oversight of education, training, examination, and licensure of laboratory personnel.​
