April 7, 2025 — A recognized leader in the science of improving the health of people and their communities, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is celebrating National Public Health Week​ from April 7–11, reaffirming its commitment to protecting and improving the health of all Californians. This year’​s National Public Health Week theme, ā€œIt Starts Here,ā€ highlights the critical role public health plays in shaping everyday life.

​​CDPH Issues Statement on Community Water Fluoridation  ā€‹

April 1, 2025​ ā€” Today, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued the following joint statement on community water fluoridation from CDPH Director and State Public Health Officer, Dr. Erica Pan, MD, MPH and CDPH State Dental Director, Dr. Shakalpi Pendurkar, DDS, MPH.

Dr. Erica Pan Appointed Next CDPH Director and State Public Health Officer

January 7, 2025 — As announced earlier today by Governor Gavin Newsom, Dr. Erica Pan will become the next Director and State Public Health Officer of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) on February 1.

​As Whooping Cough Cases Increase, CDPH Encourages Tdap Vaccination​​​​​​
