Questions & Answers

*Revised 11/20/2024

Q1:
Does a Tribal TGI Health Care Grant application need to provide services within one of the three listed service areas?
A1:
The three listed service areas only pertain to the Rural TGI Health Care Grants. As stated in the RFA, ā€œFunding for the Tribal TGI Health Care Grant is not tied to a specific geographic location or tribal trust lands. Proposed programs with wider geographic coverage will be assessed higher.ā€
Q2:
Our organization has both an LLC and nonprofit arm. Are we eligible to apply for this funding?
A2:
Funds under this opportunity cannot pass to or through an LLC. You must apply under the 501(c)3 and ensure that the funds remain within that arm.
Q3:
Does a harm reduction organization qualify as a medical provider?
A3:
Per California’s Health and Safety Code §150900, which establishes the TGI Fund, Health Care includes ā€œServices related to substance use disorder or substance abuse.ā€ Therefore, a harm reduction organization qualifies as a Health Care Provider specifically.
Q4:
Can a grantee awarded under previous funding with the TGI Unit apply for this opportunity?
A4:
Yes, so long as your organization meets the minimum requirements outlined in the RFA, you are able to apply. These grants are not mutually exclusive. ā€‹
