Radiation Emergencies
California continues to prepare for the
possibility of a terrorist attack that might include a dirty bomb or other type
of device that releases radiation into the environment.
Radiation emergencies include some form of
radiation threat and often take the form of a ādirty bombā or āradiological
dispersion device (RDD).ā In such a situation, common explosives are used to
spread radioactive materials over a targeted area.
Radiation emergencies are not the same thing as a
nuclear blast.
