Am I Eligible For An Internship?

Pathways is looking for current students with a keen interest in public health. Applicants should demonstrate flexibility, social and cultural inclusiveness, and a desire to be of service.

DACA and international students are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must ​meet academic requirements:

  • Current college student attending a University Enterprises, Inc (UEI) affiliated college (link to list of affiliated colleges (PDF))
  • Enrollment in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students and four semester units or six quarter units for graduate students. (Employment Eligibility​ (PDF))

Applicants must also be willing to:

  • Work between 15–29 hours per week.
  • Work between the hours of approximately 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Work in-person at the local county or city ​health department.
  • Complete required evaluation surveys throughout their internship.
  • Conduct a final presentation of internship experience.
  • Comply with all local county or city health department host site requirements, including but not limited to background checks, dress code, vaccination requirements, etc.​

Pl​​​ease note that all applicants must attend a UEI affiliated college to be eligible for the internship program. There are no exceptions to this requirement. If your school is not currently affiliated with UEI, please contact CalPPHInternship@cdph.ca.gov to discuss initiating the affiliation process for a future semester.
