Pathways

How do we apply for an intern?

Health departments that would like to host an intern must submit a non-competitive application for each position, which details the work the intern will be performing. Applications will require a duty statement for each intern position, duty statements are in-depth descriptions of exactly what work the intern will be performing with a breakdown of tasks and estimated percentage of time spent on each task (similar to a job posting).

Due to the variability of intern applicants for each cohort, Pathways cannot guarantee an intern for each health department request.

The Pathways team uses a variety of email communication methods to announce to potential host sites that the internship host site application period has opened. These methods include emails directly to current and previous internship preceptors, emails to current Pathways Fellowship host sites, and emails sent out from CDPH to the CCLHO, CHEAC and CACDC listservs. If you are interested in being notified for the next internship cohort host site application period, please email Pathways@cdph.ca.gov.
