What You Can Do with Cal-ViDa

Once you create a free Cal-ViDa account, you can:

Generate reports on births and deaths across California
Break down data by location, race/ethnicity, education level, and more
Explore health indicators like birthweight and cause of death

Always Up to Date

New data is added to Cal-ViDa every month.

Birth data is available from 2018 to present
Death data is available from 2015 to present
Earlier data is not included due to differences in legacy files and no earlier data will be accessible from this application

Other Death Details: Manner of Death, Place of Death Type, Disposition Type

To protect the privacy of individuals, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) follows the California Health and Human Services Agency Data De-Identification Guidelines when preparing a tabulated data table. As a result, any counts above 0 and less than 11 will be suppressed in Cal-ViDa.
