2025 National Breastfeeding Month
For National Breastfeeding Month 2025, the California Department of Public Health/Women, Infants and Children Division (CDPH/WIC) has released a new social media toolkit. The toolkit is designed to help WIC local agencies and program partners highlight WIC's breastfeeding and chestfeeding services throughout August and September.
This year's toolkit emphasizes the importance of early breastfeeding support, family and partner involvement, and accessible lactation services.
The toolkit highlights the Your WIC Guide to Breastfeeding (PDF, 5.3MB) handout for WIC families. This handout is incorporated in the campaign to encourage greater awareness, use, and support of breastfeeding and chestfeeding. Whether families are currently feeding, planning ahead, or looking for ways to support someone who is breastfeeding or chestfeeding, this handout is a valuable resource to share.
Breastfeeding observances in August and September:
- World Breastfeeding Week (August 1–7)
- Indigenous Milk Medicine Week (August 8–14)
- Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Breastfeeding Week (August 15–21)
- Black Breastfeeding Week (August 25–31)
- Workplace Lactation Week (September 1–7)
- Semana de La Lactancia Latina (September 8–14)
