× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. Local Breastfeeding Coalitions and Coordinators

The CDPH/MCAH urges all labor and delivery facilities to work with their local breastfeeding coalition and/or their local health jurisdiction breastfeeding coordinator to address barriers to individuals chestfeeding or breastfeeding, exclusively.

Regional Perinatal Programs of California (RPPC)

RPPC is a network of regional public health consultants that promote access to risk appropriate perinatal care for pregnant persons and their infants. These consultants can assist hospitals in implementing breastfeeding quality improvement. The contact information for each region's RPPC Coordinator can be found on the RPPC website.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC):

WIC provides prenatal breastfeeding education, breast pumps when needed, and peer counselors to support breastfeeding mothers in certain areas. WIC Regional Breastfeeding Liaisons (RBLs) work with healthcare providers, hospitals, employers, and the community to ensure inclusive breastfeeding support.
