ā€‹Fentanyl Overdose Prevention Grant Request for Applications (RFA) #23-10573

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Center for Healthy Communities (CHC), Substance and Addiction Prevention Branchā€™ā€‹ā€‹s (SAPB) Overdose Prevention Initiative (OPI) accepted applications from 
ā€‹local jurisdictions, agencies, community-based organizations (CBOs), or a combination therein, to implement evidence-based and community-driven public health interventions for preventing overdose from fentanyl and other opioids.

The purpose of this RFA was to increase local efforts in education, testing, recovery, and support services while focusing on closing gaps related to access to care and services to reduce health inequities for populations that are at the greatest risk for overdose.

CDPH-SAPB will award six one-time grants allocated by region: two in Northern California, two in the Central Valley, and two in Southern California. The total funding period will span three years and is anticipated to be March 1, 2024, to February 28, 2027.ā€‹

Notice of Intent to Award 

CDPH-SAPB is pleased to announce its intent to award funding to the following applicants. CDPH-SAPB thanks all applicants for their proposals. Awards listed below are for the entire contract period and are contingent upon contract negotiations. Prior to and during contract negotiations, applicants will be required to submit additional budget and contract information to meet the RFA and contract requirements. 

  • Health Improvement Partnership of Santa Cruz County: $1,280,985 
  • Inland Empire Harm Reduction: $1,140,233 
  • Mendonoma Health Alliance: $1,281,000 
  • San Francisco Department of Public Health: $1,281,000 
  • Special Services for Groups (SSG): $1,281,000 
  • Westcare Foundation: $1,281,000ā€‹
