Maintaining PrEP Assistance Program (PrEP-AP) Eligibility

Once a client is enrolled in the PrEP-AP, they are responsible for informing their enrollment worker of any changes that may affect their eligibility. This includes, but is not limited to, changes in income, residency, or insurance status. Additionally, eligible PrEP-AP clients are required to maintain enrollment in the appropriate Gilead assistance program according to their insurance status.

Clients are also required to re-enroll in order to maintain eligibility. Clients will receive a re-enrollment reminder approximately 45 days before their eligibility end date.

Uninsured Clients

  • Clients who do not have private health insurance must re-enroll every 6 months and must re-submit updated supporting documentation to both the PrEP-AP and Gilead Patient Assistance Program (PAP).

Clients with Private Insurance

  • Clients who have private health insurance must re-enroll in the PrEP-AP every 12 months from their initial enrollment date and must re-submit updated supporting documentation.

Please Note: Clients who have private health insurance do not need to re-enroll in Gilead's Co-Payment Assistance Program, as benefits reset each calendar year.

Clients with Medicare

  • Clients with prescription drug coverage through Medicare must re-enroll in the PrEP-AP every 12 months from their initial enrollment date and must re-submit updated supporting documentation.

Please Note: Clients with prescription drug coverage through Medicare are not eligible for assistance through Gilead.

  • Medicare clients without prescription drug coverage must re-enroll every 6 months from their initial enrollment date in both the PrEP-AP and Gilead PAP, and must re-submit updated supporting documentation.
