How do I protect myself from MPX during sexual activity?
Protect yourself from  MPX during sexual activity
If you have MPX symptoms or have been exposed take a break from sexual and close contact with others
​Suggested Messaging:
Mpox spreads mostly through close, physical contact, which can include sexual activity. You can reduce your chance of getting and spreading mpox by getting the mpox vaccine and by talking openly with your partner(s) about symptoms before sexual contact. If you or your partner(s) have a new or unexplained rash or sores, take a break from sexual and close contact with others and reach out to a health care provider immediately.

Most mpox infections are mild and heal without any treatment. Health care providers may recommend an antiviral medication (called tecovirimat, or TPOXX)  or other treatments for people with mpox.
