Attention certificate holders!  We are happy to announce the launch of our new electronic application submission portal. You can apply for a new or renew your Certified Hemodialysis Technician certificate by uploading your application along with any attachment(s) by visiting our online submission page.​ Effective March 23, 2023, fax submission method will no longer be available. You may submit your application via our new online submission portal or via regular mail.

Certified Hemodialysis Technician

The Healthcare Workforce Branch (HWB), Healthcare Professional Certification and Training Section (HPCTS) is primarily responsible for the certification of hemodialysis technicians by ensuring applicants adhere to the California Business and Professions Code, Section 1247 to 1247.9.

Effective October 11, 2009, Senate Bill (SB) 112 (Oropeza) Chapter 559, Statutes of 2009 amended the Business and Professions Code and established new California certification requirements for hemodialysis technicians including but not limited to successful passing of either a standardized test that is approved by the California Department of Public Health or passing an examination offered by a national commercially available certification program for hemodialysis technician.
