ā€‹Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit Application ā€“ Examination Not Required

Eligibility:

1.      Who is eligible to receive the California Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit without taking the fluoroscopy examination?
Individuals who have graduated on or after January 1, 2011 from a diagnostic radiologic technology program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) radiography examination; or

Individuals certified by ARRT on or after January 1, 2011 in Radiography, and who are current ARRT registrants.ā€‹

2.      I am eligible to receive the California Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit without taking the fluoroscopy examination. What application do I submit?
Effective November 2, 2020, individuals who are eligible to receive the California Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit without taking the Fluoroscopy examination must submit the Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit Application - Examination Not Required form CDPH 8228 (11/20) (PDF).   

3.      I am NOT eligible to receive the California Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit without taking the fluoroscopy examination. What application do I submit?
Effective November 2, 2020, individuals who are not eligible to receive the California Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit without taking the Fluoroscopy examination must submit the Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit Application - Examination Required form CDPH 8218 (11/20) (PDF)

4.      Where can I find my application fees?

Fees are shown on the application forms. Application forms are located on our Forms Page.

5.      I am eligible to receive the California Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit without taking the fluoroscopy examination but I've already applied and/or received instructions on how to register for the examination. Do I need to notify CDPH-RHB or the ARRT?
We will review existing applications on file to determine eligibility. Those eligible to receive the permit without taking the fluoroscopy examination will be notified by December 31, 2020.

6.      How long will it take to process my application?

Within 30 calendar days of receipt of your application the California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch (CDPH-RHB) will mail you a notification letter informing you of one of the following:

  • That your application is complete; or
  • That your application is not acceptable for filing and the next steps required.

7.      Who can I contact to get the status of my initial application?

Please e-mail us at rhblistc@cdph.ca.gov. Include with your request, your name, the type of certificate/permit you applied for, and the date you sent your application or your examination date.

8.      Can I update my name/address online?
