āāIn the fall of 2022, the Microbial Diseases Laboratory (MDL) became a branch within the California Department of Public Health's (CDPH) Center for Laboratory Sciences (CLS), under the Infectious Disease Laboratory Division. The MDL provides reference, diagnostic, and applied research activities for detecting, investigating, controlling, and preventing bacterial, mycobacterial, fungal, and parasitic diseases in humans, food, water, and other environmental sources.āāāā
