Title 17 Sections 2505 and 2500 require all California laboratories to submit positive laboratory reports for Carbapenemase-producing Organisms (CPO)s (PDF) and Candida auris (C. auris) (PDF), and healthcare providers to report all cases of C. auris to public health. CDPH is able to monitor trends and track geographic spread of these antimicrobial resistant pathogens by receiving, processing, and analyzing laboratory and morbidity reports on cases identified in healthcare facilities across California. This page is intended as a resource for healthcare providers and laboratories, as well as members of the public seeking up-to-date case information on the number and distribution of CPOs and C. auris.
Since September 202ā2, healthcare providers and laboratories are required to report cases of C. auris colonization and infection to public health per California state regulations (PDF).
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is collaborating with WastewaterSCAN to conduct wastewater surveillance for Candida auris at participating wastewater treatment plants in California. See the WastewaterSCAN dashboard and our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) (PDF) document for more information.
