School-Located Vaccine Events Promotional Toolkit

Conducting vaccine events at schools is an effective strategy for protecting students from preventable diseases and increasing immunization coverage rates. This web-based toolkit includes resources to promote your school-located vaccine event (SLVE) as well as resources to raise awareness about immunizations.

The promotional resources on this webpage can be downloaded, customized, and shared with your school community on many different platforms and applications. To maximize attendance and ensure your events are successful, use these resources to promote your schoolā€™s events early and often.

Recommendations for Promoting SLVEs

Utilize all available communication channels to reach families, including student take-home materials, robocalls, text messages, emails, newsletters/websites, marquee screens, and social media. Consider collaborating with local media outlets (radio, newspapers, TV) for Public Service Announcements (PSAs). Partner with community organizations, such as youth centers, libraries, and after-school programs, to promote your SLVE.

Encourage teachers and staff to use provided templates and personalized messaging to increase participation. Involve them in sharing event registration URLs or sending and collecting consent forms to improve response rates. Get creative utilize art classes/clubs to design reusable signage and banners for future events.

You may insert your QR code image and partner/school logos (if appropriate), school information, and event specific details once the documents are downloaded, opened, and saved to your computer.

Social Media Images and Messaging Instructions

Use the images and suggested messaging below to help promote school-located vaccine events. Feel free to customize and share via social media platforms, websites, emails, and school marquees to reach your audiences. We also encourage posting pictures from your own community.

Follow These Steps to Use Toolkit Graphics and Messaging

Option A - Copy Image and Messaging into Your Social Media Platform:

Select the graphic you want to share, right click on the image, copy it, and paste it into your social media platform of choice. Then copy the messaging from beside the chosen graphic and paste into your social media platform when prompted. Customize the details for your event. Make sure to use the hashtags provided in this toolkit to optimize your reach.

Option B- Customize Image for Your Social Media Platform Using Canva: (Educators may sign up for a free Canva Pro account)

  • Step 1:  Right click on the graphic and select ā€œsave image as.ā€
  • Step 2:  Open Canva and click on the "Create a design" button located on the top left corner of your Canva dashboard. You will be prompted to select your posting options and platforms at this time. A new blank page will appear based on your selection. Select ā€œuploadsā€ tab from the vertical menu on the left of page. 
  • Step 3:  Now select ā€œupload filesā€ and choose the image from your saved location in ā€œStep 1.ā€ Your image will now populate on your screen, allowing you to use an array of editing tools offered by your Canva subscription to enhance and customize your image.
