Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC)

A federally supported resource center devoted to advancing the implementation of the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention. SPRC is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Walk The Talk America (WTTA)

Through formal education, outreach and engagement with the mental health and firearms communities, Walk the Talk America aspires to reduce firearm suicides and other negative incidents associated with firearms ownership.

Zero Suicide

An initiative based on the foundational belief that suicide deaths for individuals under care within health and behavioral health systems are preventable. The initiative provides information, resources and tools for safer suicide care.

Know the Signs (English)  Reconozca Las Señ​ales (Español)

Know the Signs is a statewide suicide prevention social marketing campaign built on three key messages: Know the signs. Find the words. Reach out. This website also features an annual Suicide Prevention Digital Toolkit and links to suicide prevention resources in Spanish and many other languages, as well as a section for youth and schools. 


Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission’s Striving for Zero—California’s Strategic Suicide Prevention Plan 2020–​2025 (PDF, 4MB) 

Striving for Zero Suicide Prevention Strategic Planning Learning Collaborative

The Mental Health Services and Oversight Commission (MHSOAC) offers a Striving for Zero Suicide Prevention Strategic Planning Learning Collaborative which aims to advance local strategic planning and implementation in alignment with strategic aims, goals and objectives set forth in California’s Strategic Plan for Suicide Prevention, Striving for Zero. Implemented by the Your Social Marketer technical assistance team, the Learning Collaborative is guided by the Strategic Planning Approach from the Suicide Prevention Resource Center. This website includes links to suicide prevention guiding documents and reports as well as links to past learning collaborative modules, handouts and county suicide prevention strategic plans in CA. 

Striving for Safety​​​

This website is designed to support you to increase safety for yourself or a loved one, friend, colleague, or client when suicide risk is elevated. Limiting a person’s access to means by which they may cause themselves harm is called lethal means safety, and here you’ll find information about a range of strategies to promote safety in times of crisis or in anticipation of crisis.

Office of the California Surgeon General

As California’s first Surgeon General, Dr. Nadine Burke Harris established early childhood, health equity and ACEs and toxic stress as key priorities. The Office of the California Surgeon General has set the bold goal to reduce ACEs and toxic stress by half in one generation.

​ Take Action for Mental Health

Take Action for Mental Health is the campaign for California’s ongoing mental health movement. It builds upon established approaches and provides resources to support Californians’ mental health needs.

The BulletPoints project

BulletPoints provides clinical tools for firearm injury prevention. The project’s mission is to teach medical and mental health care providers how to reduce the risk of firearm injury in their patients.

The UC Davis Violence Prevention Research Program (VPRP)

The UC Davis VPRP is a multi-disciplinary program of research and policy development focused on the causes, consequences and prevention of violence. They place a particular focus on firearm violence and on the connections between violence, substance abuse and mental illness.
