The California Department of Public Health offers an examination for certification as a Public Health Vector Control Certified Technician on the third Thursday of May and November. The purpose of this examination is to certify the competence of government agency employees in the control of vectors for the health and safety of the public. Authority to certify public health employees is found in the Health and Safety Code and Title 17 of the California Code of Regulations. Note ā only individuals currently employed at a government public health agency that performs vector control may apply to take the Vector Control Technician (VCT) Certification examination.
