× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. This information is subject to change, so please monitor the California WIC website for updates.

Please be wary of potential highly partisan political messaging while visiting federal government websites for information related to the federal government shutdown.

COVID-19 Treatments in California Virtual Forum

Did you know there are resources available if you test positive for COVID-19?  On December 7th a virtual forum on COVID-19 Treatments: Helping Your Community Get Access Through Telehealth was presented by the CA Department of Public Health, Occupational Health Branch & Office of Health Equity.

COVID-19 treatments are free, widely available, and very effective. But do you know how to help your community get treatment quickly after testing positive?

At this webinar, participants learned what COVID-19 treatments are, why most adults should consider getting treatment if positive for COVID-19, and how to help your California community use a new free telehealth resource to get treatments ASAP. This telehealth resource is a FREE program that helps connect people in California who test positive for COVID-19 to a doctor who can prescribe them medication.

The presenter, Emily Estus, is the Deputy State Lead for the COVID-19 Therapeutics Task Force at the California Department of Public Health. In that role, she works on policies and programs that expand equitable access to COVID-19 treatment in California.
