Dear Health Officers, TB Controllers and TB Program Managers,
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Tuberculosis (TB) Control Branch is pleased to announce the intent to award state and federal local assistance funding for TB prevention and control activities July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
See attached table for local health jurisdiction (LHJ) estimated allocation amounts by funding source. Allocations are calculated every two years using five years of surveillance data, based on the average number of TB cases and associated case characteristics. Data from 2018-2022 was used to determine 2024 and 2025 allocations.
However, due to ongoing budget reductions, 2025 TB local assistance funding allocations reflect a decrease across all jurisdictions. While we recognize that even small reductions can impact operations, these adjustments were necessary to align with available resources while maintaining equitable support across the state.
Please note that beginning 2025, both budgets and invoices must clearly separate state and federal funding in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requirements. This change is necessary to ensure compliance with federal reporting guidelines.
Awards are contingent upon the availability of funds appropriated by the State of California and the federal government. The CDPH TBCB reserves the right to reduce, amend, or withdraw funding, in whole or in part, should funding from the state or federal government be reduced, delayed, or otherwise adjusted.
