The submitting laboratory is encouraged to isolate STEC and submit suspect isolates along with broth.
Form LAB 414 is required for submission of the broth and Form LAB 446 is required for submission of suspect STEC isolates.

Store specimen at 4°C
For isolates accompanying broth, ship cultures on nonselective nutrient or similar agar in tubes with leak-proof screw cap closures.
Testing subject to CLIA regulations require two patient identifiers on the specimen container and the test requisition.
