As of May 11, 2023, the COVID-19 digital exposure notification systems across the U.S. are turned off. These systems were timed to shut down on the same date that the nation's COVID-19 State of Emergency ends.

At that time, individuals with CA Notify active on their phone received an alert letting them know that exposure notifications are turned off. User privacy will continue to be protected, as names and locations were never collected or stored.

We encourage people to continue following current CDPH COVID-19 guidance. Vaccines, at-home tests, and strong treatment options continue to be successful in the fight against COVID-19.

CDPH is grateful to all Californians who used CA Notify to protect themselves and others from COVID-19.

CDPH will continue to work with our partners to assess the public health benefits of CA Notify and its use for future responses related to COVID-19 or other diseases.ā€‹
