B. parapertussis

Bordetella parapertussis causes an illness that is similar to pertussis (whooping cough).  With B. parapertussis prolonged cough, paroxysmal cough, whoop, and vomiting may occur, however symptoms are typically milder and for shorter duration than pertussis. Infants under six months of age may experience a more sever course of illness than older persons.
