​April 28, 2023, NOTIFICATION OF INTENT TO AWARD Request for Application (RFA) #23-10055 – California Healthy Brain Initiative State and Local Public Health Partnerships to Address Dementia

The California Department of Public Health Chronic Disease Control Branch's Alzheimer's Disease Program is pleased to announce the intent to award seven (7) local health jurisdictions totaling $4,250,000 under the California Healthy Brain Initiative State and Local Public Health Partnerships to Address Dementia. Each local health jurisdiction awardee shall receive up to $708,000 in one-time grant funding over two (2) consecutive fiscal years from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2025.

The State of California supports activities that are consistent with the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published Healthy Brain Initiative​: State and Local Public Health Partnerships to Address Dementia, The 2018-2023 Road Map. Awards for RFA #23-10055 are funded as a result of approval of the fiscal year 2022-2023 State of California Budget. Thank you to all the individuals and organizations that dedicated time and effort to submitting applications.

Project activities include the four (4) areas listed below:

  1. Monitoring data and evaluating programs to contribute to evidence-based practice.

  2. Education and empowerment of the public with regard to brain health and cognitive aging.

  3. Mobilizing public and private partnerships to engage local stakeholders in effective community-based interventions and best practices.

  4. Ensuring a competent workforce by strengthening the knowledge, skills, and abilities of health care professionals who deliver care and services to people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and their family caregivers.​
