Welcome to the State of California

Research Clearinghouse

Assessment is one of the core functions of Public Health. This function is achieved by monitoring the public's health status, diagnosing and investigating health problems and health hazards in the community, and evaluating the effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of personal and population-based health services.

CDPH produces and maintains a variety of data files. Researchers and public health officials use these data files to conduct scientific studies, evaluate existing health programs, and develop new health promotion strategies. The Research Clearinghouse compiles research efforts proposed using these data files. The clearinghouse shares proposed research and the findings with individuals who want to better understand and improve California's health status, and provides researchers with an opportunity to publicize their work and to build collaborations with other research partners.

Each entry in the clearinghouse lists (1) the project title, (2) the researcher's name, title, and organizational affiliation, (3) a brief summary of the findings, (4) any journal citations or web links, and (5) the data files used.
