About Us:

Bioscientific and Technical Support Section provides services to the Richmond Campus laboratories for specimen receiving and processing; preparation of culture media, reagents, and glassware; decontamination services; and other laboratory support services. Specimen receiving includes the accession, tracking, and quality check of patient and environmental samples submitted from local public health laboratories and other sources; transfer to Richmond testing laboratory; and shipment of specimens to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other reference labs for additional or confirmatory testing.
