Request for Application (RFA) Background and Information:
CDPH is implementing a new program to fund projects that demonstrate improved capacity to provide affirming and culturally responsive care for LGBTQ foster youth and transitional aged youth (TAY), emphasizing vulnerable and marginalized youth populations.
This Request for Application (RFA) provides an
opportunity for local organizations to apply for funds to strengthen systems and services for LGBTQ foster youth and
TAY. Funding was authorized as part of the Budget Act of 2025 (SB 101), Sec. 2.00, Item 4265-490-0001, Provision 4. In total, $4 million is available for expenditure through June 30, 2027.
This RFA will fund an estimated eight (8) grants for experienced non-profit organizations with subject matter expertise related to the intersections of a) the child welfare system and b) providing inclusive and affirming services for LGBTQ youth. Maximum grant awards are $300,000 over two (2) years, anticipated to commence in June 2025. Depending on the number of applications received, CDPH reserves the right to amend the maximum number of grants and/or funds awarded to ensure that all funds are distributed.
Eligible organizations MUST possess 501(c)(3) status.
