*People with lived expertise of health inequities or climate injustice are particularly encouraged to apply to CCHE positions. 

*Salary and Benefits: Candidates new to State service will start at the base salary, increasing to the maximum salary over time upon satisfactory performance (see below). Additional raises may be negotiated by the union. State benefits are excellent including a defined-benefit pension.

*Unless otherwise specified,ā€‹ all positions are hybrid in-office / telework position located in either Sacramento or Richmond (Contra Costa County), with up to three days a week of telework allowed. Occasional travel to Sacramento or the San Francisco Bay Area may be required. Candidates must reside in California by the start of employment. Please be aware that the application and hiring process may take up to six months.ā€‹

How to Applyā€‹

In general, for those new to applying to State governmeā€‹nt positions, there are two components to complete:

  • Establish Eligibility: You must take and pass the corresponding ā€œexamination" (a self-assessment questionnaire) for each job classification you want to become eligible for. The exams are online, and you will receive your score immediately after completion. 

  • Apply to the Position: In addition to taking the exam, you must also apply for the actual position itself. Please be aware of the specific application deadline for each position posted.
