Am I Eligible For The Fellowship?
The California Pathways into Public Health (Pathways) Fellowship Program seeks applicants who need an accessible pathway into public health and are interested in starting long-term careers in public health.
Applicants must demonstrate flexibility, social and cultural inclusiveness, and a desire to be of service. Applicants should be open to working in any area of public health and gaining broad public health skills.
Eligible applicants must meet one of the following education and work experience requirements:
- High school diploma or GED and at least four years of any work experience
- Associate's degree and at least two years of any work experience
- Bachelor’s degree (possession of a Bachelor's degree does not require any work experience)
***Because this program is designed to provide entry-level experience in public health, college degrees and work experience can be in any field, including those that are non-public health related.
Additionally, eligible applicants who meet one or more of the criteria listed below are strongly encouraged to apply:
- People who do not have a public health background
- People who have previous retail experience
- People with a high school diploma,GED, or Associate's degree and have the required years of work experience outlined above.
- People with lived expertise of health inequities
Applicants must also be willing to:
- Work full-time (40 hours per week) and in-person at a local health department in California for the 13-month duration of the program
- Relocate within or to California at their own expense (if applicable)
