PERMANENT UPDATE TO ADAPā€™S MEDICATION MAIL-ORDER POLICY FOR OUT OF STATE OR COUNTRY REQUESTS

ADAP MANAGEMENT MEMO 2020-13: PERMANENT UPDATE TO ADAPā€™S MEDICATION MAIL-ORDER POLICY FOR OUT OF STATE OR COUNTRY REQUESTS

The California Department of Public Healthā€™s, Office of AIDS, AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) in coordination with Magellan Rx Management is actively monitoring and responding to the spread of the respiratory illness caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

We understand that during this difficult time, some clients may have traveled out of state or out of the country.  This permanent policy update will provide for a prescription to be mailed out of state or out of the country, if the request meets either of the following conditions:

ā€¢ Unable to return to California due to shelter in place COVID-19 response
ā€¢ Medication lost or stolen while traveling
ā€¢ Emergency medication refills during extended traveling*

*Please note requests for refills mailed during extended traveling may require documentation to support the travel dates.

ADAP or PrEP-AP clients who would like their prescription mailed to them out of state or out of the country, will need their pharmacy to contact Magellan at CA_ADAPProviderResponseTeam@magellanhealth.com and provide the reason for the request (detailed information) in the email.

Additionally, Magellan Rx Management has provided a list of ADAP Network Pharmacies with Mail Order or Delivery Service.

We understand that this situation is evolving daily, and are prepared to meet federal and state guidance regarding the well-being and support of our ADAP and PrEP-AP clients. We will continue to closely monitor conditions, make adjustments, and keep clients updated.

If you have any questions regarding the contents of this Management Memorandum, please contact your ADAP advisor.

Thank you,
