Here are steps to take to help you have a good milk supply for your baby.
Ask your health care provider:
Call your health insurance provider to get a breast pump – they can help you get a breast pump if you need to build your milk supply in the early weeks or maintain your milk supply when you go back to work or school.
In the hospital:
The more often you breastfeed or pump, the more milk you’ll make. Newborns eat often. In the early weeks, breastfeed at least every 2 - 3 hours throughout the day and night, 8 - 12 times in 24 hours. Do not restrict feedings.
