Through the Office of Suicide Prevention (OSP), established by AB 2112 , CDPH will serve as the designated state entity responsible for coordinating and aligning statewide suicide prevention efforts and resources through planning and collaboration across diver​se partners and systems.​​

OSP activities will include:

  • Document
    Providing information and technical assistance regarding best practices on suicide prevention policies and programs.
  • Team
    Focusing on groups disproportionally impacted by suicide, including youth, Native American youth, older adults, veterans and LGBTQ individuals.
  • Medical Monitoring
    Monitoring/tracking (surveillance) and dissemination of data to inform prevention efforts at the state and local levels.
  • Downward Trending Graph
    ​​​Reporting on progress to reduce rates of suicide.​​

Funding Opportunity – Native Youth Suicide Prevention

The CDPH, Injury and Violence Prevention Branch, Office of Suicide Prevention is seeking applications from Tribal entities to implement and evaluate community-level strategies for Native youth suicide prevention via Request for Applications (RFA) #2​5-10360. The focus of this RFA is fostering evidence-informed youth suicide prevention efforts through culturally anchored strategies that reflect the values, practices, histories, trauma, lived experiences, and unique political status of Native and Tribal communities. What’s New

  • The OSP and CSP Program released a data brief titled, “Tele-Mental Health Care for Children (Ages 0–17) in California (PDF)​.” The brief provides a summary of a statewide survey administered to California (CA's) caregivers of children 0- to 17-years-old about their child’s engagement in tele-mental health services during and after the COVID-19 Pandemic.
