Central California is an agricultural powerhouse and natural resource hub. Its 11 local health jurisdictions span about 20% of California. They serve around 4.6 million people which is 12% of the state. Public health priorities include improving upstream prevention, workforce development, mental health and substance use and access to care.

How Future of Public Health Is Making an Impact

The region expanded its public health workforce with over 190 positions.
Funds updated technology and data programs and supported laboratory services.
Local partners developed mobile health programs and worked together to reduce the spread of H5N1(bird flu).
