PHNIX Innovation Institute
California is working to establish an innovation engine to translate proven public health ideas into real-world impact. The PHNIX Innovation Institute will be a stand‑alone, public‑private partnership for incubating new technologies into tangible health improvements for Californians.
CDPH aims to launch a PHNIX Innovation Institute to bring together public, private, academic, and philanthropic sectors. The PHNIX Innovation Institute will support public health by developing advanced technology and funding frameworks. It will help California test, check, and grow new solutions in a safe and expedient way.
Focus areas will include:
- Turning California's strengths in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, health care, and research into new ideas that can be used in real life to improve health outcomes, work at a large scale, and lower health costs.
- Using smart tools and building modern systems to help California respond faster in emergencies and make decisions based on good evidence.
