Collaboration

Stronger Together

California engages public health partners across the country and around the world to evaluate threats and develop unified public health recommendations. The goal of these partnerships is to provide clear and evidence‑based information so Californians can make informed and healthy choices.

Partnerships include:

West Coast Health Alliance (WCHA)

The West Coast Health Alliance is a group of state and public health officials from California, Oregon, Hawaii, and Washington working together to provide unified, evidenced-based recommendations to the public. Through this partnership, WCHA will collaborate on the review of the best available science and evidence to make unified recommendations that support safety, efficacy, transparency, access and trust.

Governors Public Health Alliance

California is part of the Governors Public Health Alliance, a group of 15 states whose governors work together to protect people's health. The alliance helps states share information, prepare for emergencies, and learn from each other about what health policies work best.

World Health Organization's Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN)

California was the first state in the United States to join the World Health Organization's Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN). By joining GOARN, California is part of a large group of public health agencies, universities, and labs around the world working together to quickly find and respond to health threats.

Public Health for All Californians Together (PHACT)

CDPH established the Public Health for All Californians Together (PHACT) Coalition in partnership with Covered California and the UC San Francisco California Collaborative for Public Health Research. PHACT is a network of public health and medical professionals, health system leaders, researchers, and community health advocates working to support healthy communities. The PHACT Coalition shares clear, evidence‑based guidance and creates health messages that fit the needs and cultures of different communities.
