Purpose
The purpose of this memo is to provide updated guidance to ADAP and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Assistance Program (PrEP-AP) Enrollment Workers (EW) based on the information in Management Memo 2026-03 regarding ADAP formulary additions.
Background
The ADAP formulary was recently updated to include specific dental-related products as well as a broader range of OTC vitamins. The memo also provided instructions for filtering the ADAP formulary spreadsheet to identify OTC products that do not require a prescription.
Update
Some medications and health products that are available over the counter, like Prilosec (for acid reflux) or Vitamin D3, are covered by a patient’s ADAP benefit. Although these products can be purchased without a prescription, in order for the pharmacy to bill ADAP on the client’s behalf and to confirm that the product is part of the client’s prescribed care plan, a prescription is required. Once the provider submits the prescription, the pharmacy will handle the rest.
In addition, because OTC medications need a prescription, the ADAP formulary spreadsheet no longer includes the “RX Required” sorting column.
