The purpose of this Management Memo is to provide ADAP Enrollment Workers an update regarding acceptable documentation for proof of positive HIV status.
Acceptable Proof of HIV Status for ADAP Clients
New applicants must provide documentation of a positive HIV diagnosis as part of the ADAP eligibility determination process. Currently ADAP accepts the following documentation:
- HIV positive lab results (antibody test, qualitative HIV detection test, or detectable viral load).
- Letter from the applicant's physician or licensed health care provider verifying the client's HIV status.
- Diagnosis form completed by the applicant's physician or licensed health care provider.
- Legible prescription for antiretroviral drug (excluding Truvada and Descovy), dated within the last 30-days, including client first and last name, date of birth, and name of drug. The drug must be on the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) ADAP formulary.
Effective immediately, ADAP will accept lab results with an undetectable viral load as proof of positive HIV diagnosis.
If you have any questions about anything covered in this memo, please contact your ADAP Advisor.
