Provisional Summary Report of Selected California Reportable Diseases
January - September 2025 (As of November 03, 2025)
This report displays the provisional number of selected communicable disease cases in California with estimated onset during the current year by month and local health jurisdiction (LHJ). Cases of these diseases are required to be reported to the local health authority and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) according to Title 17, California Code of Regulations.
Data are not finalized and are subject to change. Please see Technical Notes for more information about data included in this report.

- “SC” (Suppressed Count) values in tables mask small case counts to maintain confidentiality of case-patients in small populations.

Technical Notes
When interpreting the numbers in this report, please consider the following points:
Data in this report represent provisional disease case counts as of November 03, 2025. The time required to complete clinical, laboratory, and epidemiologic investigation for disease cases can vary and sometimes delay case reporting. Also, for some diseases, the criteria described below that must be met in order for a case to be counted as provisional are different than the finalized year-end case counting criteria. Thus, data in this report may differ from data presented in subsequent reports published.
Estimated onset date is the date closest to the time when symptoms first appeared. Since a date of onset may not be recorded, the estimated onset date can range from the date of first appearance of symptoms to the date the report was made to CDPH.
Year-to-Date (YTD) refers to the period from the beginning of the current year to the end of the specified month.
“SC” (Suppressed Count) designates case counts that have been suppressed due to small numbers based on Publication Scoring Criteria specified in California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Data De-identification Guidelines (DDG).
Coccidioidomycosis case counts in this report include only “Confirmed” cases and therefore will be lower than counts of combined provisional Suspect, Probable, and Confirmed cases published in the CDPH Provisional Valley Fever Dashboard.
Listeriosis case counts include reported cases of neonatal and non-neonatal listeriosis.
Cases are counted as “Provisional” if they meet the following criteria:
