Dashboard Overview

All eligible acute care and critical access hospitals are required by The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Promoting Interoperability Program to report AUR data through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) NHSN AUR module.
Below are additional NHSN AUR module details, reporting requirements, and technical guidance:

The California AUR Dashboard complements the CDC's NHSN AUR module by providing hospital antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs) with a user-friendly interface to view the AUR data they submitted to NHSN. Using the dashboard, hospital ASPs can monitor their trends and benchmark their data against other California hospitals.
The dashboard currently includes:

Standardized Antimicrobial Administration Ratio (SAAR)
Days of Therapy (DOT) Rate

The dashboard is hosted on a secure, login-required SharePoint page that also includes navigation guidance, frequently asked questions, and examples of how hospitals have used the dashboard to support their ASPs.

Hospital ASPs can:

Filter by year and quarter
Toggle between baselines
Select SAAR type, SAAR antimicrobial category, and SAAR location
View DOT rate by antimicrobial and patient care location
Compare to other hospitals in the same region or of the same bed size category
Trend hospital data against all reporting California hospitals and selected comparators

Limitations

The dashboard only includes data from hospitals that submit to NHSN and have conferred rights to CDPH.
Hospitals are responsible for their own data quality (AU Option Data Quality Line List (PDF)). Dashboard metrics and comparisons may be inaccurate if errors exist within data submitted to NHSN.

Within the dashboard, hospital ASPs can see if any AU data quality concerns were identified on NHSN’s AU Option Data Quality Line List (PDF) report.

Dashboard Access

Who Can Register

Individuals who already have access to the NHSN AUR module through their hospital.

If you do not have access to the module, please reach out to your hospital’s NSHN administrator to obtain access prior to registering for the dashboard.

All users must have an active NHSN profile with their hospital.

How to Register

Submit the Dashboard Access Request Form.
Registration requests are reviewed monthly and registration approval emails are sent on the third Wednesday of each month.
