9 Steps To Breastfeeding Friendly: Guidelines for Community Health Centers and Outpatient Care Settings (PDF) : Guidelines developed in collaboration with input from community health centers, the California Department of Public Health, the California WIC Association (CWA) and the California Breastfeeding Coalition (CBC) to support community health centers and outpatient care settings to:

  • Successfully implement practices and policies that protect, promote and support breastfeeding
  • Provide a framework for creating and sustaining a community-based, universally assessable, quality care and support system for breastfeeding mothers and their families.

Pregnant and postpartum women will have access to comprehensive lactation support from trained providers, as well as breastfeeding equipment per health insurance policies renewing on or after August 1, 2012.
