The purpose of this letter is to notify CHVP sites of new CHVP guidance that recommends collaboration and coordination with the local California Work Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program, known as the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) federal welfare program.
In 2015, CHVP conducted in-depth qualitative interviews with eight local sites on their knowledge of CalWORKs and serving dually enrolled families. Based on those interviews and findings, CHVP developed these guidelines as they relate to coordination of services and promoting collaboration with CalWORKs at the local level.
Connecting CalWORKs with Home Visiting Guidance 700-10 (PDF), which will be available at
www.cdph.ca.gov/CHVP. Moving forward, CHVP recommends that sites coordinate services with local CalWORKs programs.
